Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu (1300m) – Lhasa (3,650)

Fly for about an hour over the panoramic Himalayan Region to the Capital of Tibet Lhasa at an elevation of 3,650 meters situated on the bank of Kyichu River. Land on Gonggar Airport then drive for an hour to Lhasa. Acclimatize in hotel. O/N at hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing at Lhasa

Today we visit to the famous place of Lhasa like Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Market. The Potala Palace is located on Red Hill by the side of the Lhasa River. It is a treasure house where you can see precious arts and learn Tibetan culture and history. Climbing the steps up to the top, you can see the great views of Lhasa city as well as beautiful plateau landscape far away. On other hand Jokhang Temple houses Tibet’s most religious relics, a golden Shakyamuni Buddha which was brought as a gift by the Chinese Princess on the occasion of her wedding to the Tibetan King, Songtsen Gompo. Then we pay visit to Barkhor Market which surrounds the Jokhang Temple. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03: Lhasa Excursion

Enjoying the Lhasa Tour with Namtso Lake , today we visit Drepung Monastery which lies 8 km west of Lhasa and is largest Monastery in the Tibet that occupies over 10,000 of Monks. The ground of Monastery is organized on the caves and temples for Jamyang Qoigyi, together with two magnificent white pagodas. Then we drive for Sera Monastery which is situated 5 km north to Lhasa. The monastery is magnificent and covers an area of 114,946 square meters (28 acres). Its main buildings are the Coqen Hall, Zhacang (college) and Kamcun (dormitory). Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Lhasa-Namtso Lake-Lhasa

Today we drive for the holy Lake Namtso which is 240 km northwest of Lhasa. At an altitude of 4,718 meters above sea level, it is the second largest saline lake in China, the largest lake in Tibet and the highest saltwater lake in the world. In Tibetan, Namsto means Heavenly Lake and is considered as one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. The Tashi Peninsula, the biggest island here stretches long and wreathed Namtso into its center, offering travelers a land for spiritual refreshment. After exploring the holy Lake Namtso we drive back to the Lhasa.

Day 05: Departure

Your Lhasa Tour with Namtso Lake  terminates today so after breakfast drive to the airport and catch the flight to the Kathmandu leaving behind the roof of the world.
