Yamdrok-Tso Lake Day Tour takes you to the Yamdrok-Tso Lake, one of the closest holy lake to Lhasa among the “Great Three Lakes” in Tibet. Yamdrok-Tso Lake is located at the Nangartse County of Shannan Prefecture, some 110 km to the southwest of Lhasa. The lake is 130 km long from east to west and 70 km broad from north to south. It is the largest inland lake on the northern range of the Himalayas standing at an elevation of 4,441 meters. Yamdrok-Tso Lake is known as ‘jade lake’ in Tibet and a barrier lake since glacier mud-rock flows blocked the river way millions of years ago. Yamdrok-Tso Lake is known as the turquoise Lake in Tibet and is surrounded by beautiful snow capped mountains. Yamdrok-Tso Lake is regarded best for photography and Bird watching tour in Tibet.
Itinerary:
Day 01: Lhasa to Yamdrok-Tso Lake
In the morning after the breakfast we drive for the Yamdrok-Tso Lake passing over the Gampala Pass (4790m). There we view the spectacular mountains surrounding the Lake. We also get the majestic view of the holy mount Nyenchen Khangsar, the highest mountain near Lhasa. The Lake is turquoise colored and is often called as turquoise lake and is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. We enjoy the picturesque view of the lake and enjoy the landscape with rich pasture land to local herdsmen. In the afternoon we drive back to Lhasa.
